New GoPro Hero3 Announced


GoPro's CEO announced the new GoPro3, a whole new camera, with an updated and slimmed down look with twice as much power! All in all it looks pretty exciting for the miniature package, and the footage coming from it appears very crisp.

Price tag is set for $399.99 USD from what I can gather if you want the specs I included below, there is also a less-feature-loaded 'silver edition' which cuts the price-tag by $100

  • Captures video at 2.7K (30 fps) Cinema, 4K (12 fps) Cinema, 1440p (48 fps), 1080p Full HD (30 fps), 960p HD (100 fps), 720p HD (120 fps) and 480p WVGA (240 fps)
  • Professional quality 5, 7 and 12-megapixel photo capture with 30 fps burst mode
  • Built-in Wi-Fi enables remote control via Wi-Fi Remote (included) or live video preview and remote control on smartphones and tablets running the free GoPro app
  • Wearable Wi-Fi Remote is waterproof down to 10' (3 m), features a 600' (180 m) range, and can control up to 50 cameras at a time

It is not released yet, but some places are taking pre-orders early. I was thinking I may like to have a second GoPro for this winter, and why not get a new one? We'll see what happens, I'll be sure to keep it updated somewhere around here if anything transpires.
